About the position

The International Recruiter at Olympic College plays a crucial role in enhancing the visibility of the college on a global scale, thereby attracting and enrolling international students. This position is situated within the Office of International Education and Study Abroad (OIESA), which is dedicated to providing comprehensive support to international students from the moment they express interest in the college until they enroll. The recruiter is responsible for managing inquiries and applications, advising prospective students on admission requirements, and ensuring they receive timely support throughout the application process. This includes providing information on costs, degree options, and F-1 visa regulations. The International Recruiter will also be involved in developing and executing a strategic marketing and recruitment plan aimed at increasing and diversifying the enrollment of new international students in both degree and non-degree programs. This involves daily communication with prospective students through various channels, including phone calls, emails, and in-person meetings. The recruiter will also assist in updating the college's website and social media platforms, creating promotional materials, and managing mass email campaigns to effectively reach potential students. Travel is an essential component of this role, as the recruiter will travel domestically and internationally to build partnerships, conduct information sessions, and recruit qualified students. The position requires a proactive approach to cultivating relationships with educational agents, school counselors, and government organizations to meet annual enrollment targets. Additionally, the recruiter will analyze data to assess the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and maintain a database of prospective students using Salesforce. Overall, the International Recruiter is a vital link between Olympic College and the international student community, advocating for their needs and ensuring a smooth transition into the college environment.

Responsibilities

  • Travel domestically and internationally to build relationships and partnerships abroad, recruit qualified students and provide information sessions.
  • Plan, promote and facilitate virtual recruitment events as well as participate in virtual recruitment events organized by partners.
  • Cultivate relationships with existing partners and identify new potential partners through U.S.-focused recruitment channels such as EducationUSA advisors, school counselors, faculty members, agents, and government organizations.
  • Meet annual international student enrollment targets through recruitment and retention of students.
  • Develop and produce outreach materials for international programs, including application materials, web materials, admissions brochures, and videos.
  • Liaise with assisting agencies such as the US Department of Commerce and NAFSA: Association of International Educators.
  • Process international student online and paper applications, issue 1-20's, and prepare monthly inquiry reports of potential students.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of international recruitment and maintain the Salesforce database for tracking prospective students.
  • Establish strategic agreements and partnerships with international high school and university officials, government agencies, and educational organizations.
  • Lead efforts to leverage the diversity, knowledge, and relationships of the college's existing international student, faculty, staff, and alumni population.
  • Oversee communication with the business office and outside vendors to ensure timely payments to education agents.
  • Manage and update relevant content of OIESA's social media platforms.
  • Act as an advocate for international student concerns and analyze data to achieve enrollment goals.
  • Conceptualize, craft scripts, and produce short videos for promotional purposes.
  • Design and write articles for the quarterly newsletter and other advertising venues.
  • Identify needs and develop training resources for partners to represent the College accurately to prospective students.
  • Train Ambassadors and volunteers to connect with prospective and new students.
  • Plan and facilitate routine information sessions and develop recorded sessions for the website.
  • Stay abreast of OC's programs and services, current events, immigration updates, and trends affecting international student enrollment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited College or University.
  • 2 years of work experience in international student recruitment, international admissions, or a closely related field.
  • Experience with international student admissions and F, M, and J visas.
  • Intermediate computer competency, including Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign and Photoshop), Canva, and basic website maintenance.
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment with diverse employees and student/customer groups, especially with populations where English is not their first language.
  • Experience in web design with an understanding of content management systems and search engine optimization principles.
  • Valid driver's license and passport, ability to travel domestically and internationally for extended periods of time with short notice.
  • Flexibility of schedule and willingness to work select evenings and/or weekends.
  • Effective written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience at a two-year college in admissions, advising, or outreach.
  • Two years of experience in student recruitment, marketing, and special recruitment travels, preferably international student recruitment in a higher education setting in the US.
  • Demonstrated understanding of other countries' educational systems and trends.
  • Knowledge of Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE), International Advanced Subsidiary (AS) and Advanced (A) Levels, International Baccalaureate (IB), Advance Placement (AP), and Washington State's College Academic Distribution Requirements (CADRs).
  • Experience in CRM and student management system.
  • Experience living, working, or studying abroad.
  • Ability to read, speak, and write in another language in addition to English.
