About the position

The International Tax Manager at Elanco is a pivotal role within the fast-paced Tax Department, reporting directly to the Director of International Tax Strategy. This position focuses on driving the analysis and execution of global tax strategies to optimize the effective tax rate and cash taxes, while also supporting US international income tax compliance and risk mitigation for Elanco's foreign operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the preparation, review and filing of international income tax returns, identifying transactions with tax implications.
  • Collaborates with functional groups and business leaders to develop and execute tax planning strategies.
  • Researches complex tax issues and interprets tax law, regulations, and cases for specific transactions.
  • Oversees preparation and review of US income tax disclosure statements related to international acquisitions and restructurings.
  • Maintains updated computations of E&P, tax basis, and PTEP for foreign affiliates.
  • Advances tax strategies and ensures compliance with tax laws through collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Provides strategic tax advice for tax audits and appeals, developing documentation and arguments as needed.
  • Leads and mentors junior tax professionals, fostering a positive team atmosphere.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Accounting or Business-related field.
  • CPA certification required.
  • 8+ years of experience in corporate tax, including 5+ years in international tax.
  • Strong technical skills and experience in ASC 740.
  • Solid understanding of US international tax laws.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Nice-to-haves

  • MST/LLM or JD preferred.
  • Experience with SAP, Corptax Compliance software, and BNA/Checkpoint research programs.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Good conceptual, critical thinking, analytical, and quantitative skills.
  • Excellent organizational and self-management skills.
  • Strong leadership skills.
