About the position
This internship program at Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) offers students the opportunity to work alongside industry experts on real-world projects in the aerospace and defense sectors. Interns will gain hands-on experience, mentoring, and coaching while contributing to significant projects related to their field of study. The program is designed to prepare interns for a successful career by providing exposure to fundamental business processes and the company's culture. Interns will engage in various tasks, including assisting in international trade compliance projects and participating in cross-functional workshops.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, planning, and implementation of international trade compliance process improvement projects and corrective actions.
- Provide support and assistance of international trade compliance tools and processes.
- Facilitate ongoing review of trade compliance program to ensure consistency and identify best practices.
- Shape and prioritize backlog, utilizing business expertise and understanding of customer needs, translate requirements into user stories & acceptance criteria.
- Balance business value with technical feasibility while prioritizing stories and features, optimizing cost and improving delivery efficiency.
- Act as the 'voice of the customer' within the team to ensure the team 'builds the right thing'.
- Ensure process improvement meets relevant data protection standards.
- Drive continuous improvement across the international trade compliance program.
- Facilitate release planning, sprint planning and demonstrations with stakeholders.
- Interact with other teams within projects as part of synchronization to implement cross-team tasks.
Requirements
- Must be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior in college or technical school, with at least 6 months until graduation after end of internship.
- Pursuing a degree in International Relations, Business, Political Science, IT, Engineering or related degree.
- Strong skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
- Strong organization skills and work ethic; detail oriented.
