About The Position

The physician is responsible for providing medical services to Health Center patients in the field of specialization in which the physician completed training. Primary care physicians and Gynecologists must also provide on-call coverage as scheduled.

Requirements

• Graduate of an approved medical school.
• Graduate of an approved residency program in internal medicine as a family practitioner.
• NYS license to practice medicine and surgery. Board Certification or Board eligibility.
• 1- to 2 years experience in the field.
• Effective communication skills with staff and patients.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to work with a culturally diverse population.
• Ability to collaborate with other medical staff in a cordial professional relationship.
• Professional demeanor with staff and patients, emphasizing respect, privacy, and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Examine, diagnose, and treat patients including ordering and following up on lab and other diagnostic tests.
• Coordinate care with other members of the health care team and refer patients for further diagnostic work-ups or treatment when necessary.
• Admit patients to the hospital and coordinate inpatient care when warranted.
