About the position

The Audio Software Algorithms Engineer Internship at Tesla offers students the opportunity to work on cutting-edge audio software implementations for applications such as self-driving cars and audio signal processing. Interns will engage in hands-on projects that are critical to the team's success, working closely with managers and mentors to develop their technical and professional skills. This full-time internship is expected to last for a minimum of 12 weeks, starting in January 2025 and continuing through the Spring/Winter term, with the possibility of extending into Summer 2025.

Responsibilities

• Develop best-in-class software implementations for audio signal processing applications.
• Work with the DSP-SW team to deliver robust, production-grade embedded application software for sensing systems.
• Implement algorithms in embedded firmware using C or C++ with a focus on optimization for compute-limited scenarios.
• Translate high-level machine learning algorithms into embedded code for new signal processing research.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in Matlab or Python, with familiarity in common Python packages.
• Familiarity with machine learning algorithms and robotics algorithms such as Kalman Filter, Particle Filter, and SLAM.
• Experience in embedded C/C++ programming, including board bring-up, profiling, optimization, and testing.
• Strong mathematical skills in probability, advanced linear algebra, and calculus.
• Good data analysis and visualization skills are a plus.
• Experience with Ethernet or CAN communication protocols is preferred.
