About the position

Barr is seeking an engineering student to join our project teams, focusing on civil engineering and related technical field assignments. This internship will provide hands-on experience in various aspects of civil engineering, including civil design and analysis, AutoCAD/Civil 3D drafting and design, field sampling, and data collection. Interns will also be involved in the preparation of construction plans and specifications, spreadsheet preparation, short report writing, laboratory testing, and construction inspection and observation. The role may require out-of-town assignments, providing a unique opportunity to engage with different project environments and challenges. As part of the internship, students will gain practical experience that complements their academic studies, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios. Interns will work closely with experienced engineers and project managers, contributing to the successful execution of projects while developing their professional skills. This position is based out of Barr's Jefferson City, Missouri office, and may offer a hybrid work arrangement, allowing interns to split their time between the office and home. Safety is a priority at Barr, and interns will receive necessary safety training before being assigned to work locations that may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites, working on tall structures, or with industrial equipment.
