About the position

The Chautauquan Daily is seeking an intern for the summer season to assist in editing and producing the community newspaper. This role involves working closely with staff writers to ensure the accuracy and clarity of articles, as well as managing the production process using InDesign. The intern will also engage with social media to promote the newspaper's content and share the Chautauqua experience with a wider audience.

Responsibilities

• Edit the work of staff writers for accuracy and clarity, grammar, spelling, and AP style.
• Edit and write suggested headlines.
• Flow formatted copy into InDesign.
• Work with the editors to enforce deadlines and ensure a seamless production process.
• Use social platforms including Twitter and Facebook to share content and tell the story of a Chautauqua season.

Requirements

• Candidates must hold or be working toward a degree in English or journalism or similar experience in student media.
