About the position

The Cyber Intelligence Analyst Internship at the National Cyber-Forensics & Training Alliance (NCFTA) offers students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of cyber intelligence. This 12-week paid internship is designed for undergraduate and graduate students, providing them with training and exposure to various aspects of cybercrime, including intellectual property fraud, financial fraud, and malware analysis. Interns will work closely with a manager and mentor, engaging in research, data collection, and collaboration with NCFTA partners to produce actionable intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and data collection using various tools and applications.
  • Engage in proactive research in open sources to produce finished products for dissemination.
  • Collaborate with NCFTA partners and peers in program meetings.
  • Write scripts to automate processes, such as Python scripts.
  • Review and analyze malicious code in languages like C, C++, VB.NET, Assembly, and Java.
  • Create databases using MySQL, MS SQL Server, and Postgres.
  • Participate in technical threat actor hunting and identity attribution to cybercriminals.

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and eligible for a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Major studies in International Affairs, Intelligence/Security Studies, Computer Science, Information Security, Business Intelligence, or related fields.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Excellent writing skills and strong analytical thinking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Nice-to-haves

  • Arabic, Turkish, Russian, Chinese, and Eastern European language skills.
  • Extensive experience with computers and networking.
