About the position

The person in this position will work with project teams providing electrical engineering and related technical expertise. The role involves performing basic engineering calculations and analysis, developing details of design, assisting in the design of solutions, monitoring construction projects, and preparing drawings, specifications, and sketches. The work may include tasks related to power distribution, controls, and instrumentation. This position is based out of our Fort Collins, Colorado office, and a hybrid work arrangement may be considered, allowing for a split between working in the office and from home. All applications must include transcripts to verify educational qualifications. The ideal candidate will be a junior or senior standing student with a minimum of one full-time semester of undergraduate or graduate coursework remaining after the internship. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills are essential, as the candidate will need to communicate effectively with project team members and clients. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows OS, Microsoft Office software, and AutoCAD is also required. The candidate should possess a conscientious approach concerning the accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness of results, along with a thorough, organized, and detail-oriented work style. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs is crucial. Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future, is mandatory, along with a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical engineering and related technical expertise to project teams.

Requirements

  • Electrical or other related engineering major.
  • At least two semesters of physics and three semesters of mathematics.
  • Junior or senior standing with a minimum of one full-time semester of undergraduate or graduate coursework remaining after the internship.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows OS and Microsoft Office software.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD.
  • Conscientiousness concerning the accuracy, appropriateness, and timeliness of results.
  • Thorough, organized, detail-oriented approach.
  • A flexible working style and the ability to work both independently and with teams of specialists to meet client and project needs.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.
