About the position

This internship focuses on landscape architectural and native plant community restoration projects, integrating sustainable landscape and ecological design principles with traditional landscape architecture. The intern will work alongside Barr's landscape architects, civil engineers, and natural resources group, contributing to various ecologically oriented design and planning projects, including construction plans, restoration management plans, and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with landscape architectural and native plant community restoration projects.
  • Support the production of construction plans and construction observation.
  • Contribute to restoration management plans and graphics.
  • Produce detailed cost estimates and technical specifications related to designs.
  • Collaborate with project team members and clients to meet project needs.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor's or master's in landscape architecture, horticulture, natural resources, or related degrees from an accredited program.
  • Demonstrated interest in landscape architecture.
  • Exposure to AutoCAD and the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign).
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Completed or enrolled in coursework such as site design, construction detailing, planting design, ecology, and soils.
  • At least one full-time semester of undergraduate or graduate coursework remaining after the internship is complete.
  • Detail-oriented, thorough, and organized approach.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
