About the position

The Legal Intern position at IAT Insurance Group offers a unique opportunity for third-year law students to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative and inclusive environment. Interns will work on meaningful legal projects, receive mentorship from industry leaders, and have the potential to transition into a full-time role after the internship. This position is designed to provide valuable insights into the legal aspects of the insurance industry while fostering professional growth and networking opportunities.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on various legal issues, including insurance contract interpretation and statutory/regulatory issues.
• Draft memoranda on various legal issues.
• Review and edit contract and insurance policy wording.
• Review and provide comments/suggestions on legal pleadings for active litigation involving the company.
• Complete various legal assignments to support the Company and its various business units, including Property Claims, Casualty Claims, and Underwriting.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

• Current third year law student as of May 2025.
• Ability to work out of IAT's Raleigh office on a hybrid schedule.
• Ability to identify and interpret legal documents and understand legal concepts.
• Authorized to work in the United States without requiring VISA sponsorship.
