About the position

The Mechanical Engineering Intern position at ASML US is designed for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in Mechanical Engineering. This internship focuses on assisting the Wilton Manufacturing Engineering's PE Specialist and Support Services Tooling Team in the development and implementation of tools crucial for industrializing production processes within the Wilton Factory Manufacturing Plant. The role emphasizes collaboration with engineers and technicians to design, document, and validate tooling solutions that enhance operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the full end-to-end development of tools for the Wilton Factory Manufacturing Plant.
  • Interface with production process owners to define scope and requirements.
  • Design tools that meet defined requirements and defend design decisions in cross-sector review meetings.
  • Document requirements, design concepts, and decisions in a formal design dossier.
  • Create technical product documentation using coordinate dimensioning and/or GD&T.
  • Work in the clean room to assemble new tooling with support from operations technicians.
  • Define validation methods for tool functionality and execute necessary testing.
  • Document testing results and update designs as needed.
  • Document assembly procedures and collaborate with process engineers to define training methods.
  • Troubleshoot issues with the functions of various tools.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD software (Siemens NX preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Strong understanding of basic Mechanical Engineering principles and test methods.
  • Exposure to static and kinematic designs or understanding of theory.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (Siemens NX preferred).
  • Familiarity with 3D printing and design for printing.
  • Competent with basic measurement equipment such as Vernier Calipers and Micrometers.
  • Understanding of GD&T and coordinate dimensioning (ISO or ASME).
  • Understanding of material properties for different applications.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and design of experiments.
  • Task-oriented and self-directed, able to meet timelines and deliver results.
  • Strong communication skills and technical writing abilities.
