About the position

The Manufacturing Engineer - Tool Designer internship at ASML US is designed for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in Mechanical Engineering. This role focuses on assisting in the development of tools for the Wilton Factory Manufacturing Plant, which is essential for improving production processes and efficiency. Interns will engage in various tasks including tool design, documentation, testing, and collaboration with production teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the full end-to-end development of tools for the Wilton Factory Manufacturing Plant.
  • Interface with production process owners to define scope and requirements.
  • Design tools that meet requirements and defend design decisions in review meetings.
  • Document requirements, design concepts, and decisions in a formal design dossier.
  • Create technical product documentation using coordinate dimensioning and/or GD&T.
  • Work in the clean room to assemble new tooling with support from operations technicians.
  • Define validation methods for tool functions and execute necessary testing.
  • Document testing results and update designs as needed.
  • Document assembly instructions and collaborate with engineers and technicians on training methods.
  • Troubleshoot issues with tool functions.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD software (Siemens NX preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
  • Strong understanding of basic Mechanical Engineering principles and test methods.
  • Exposure to static and kinematic designs or understanding of theory.
  • Experience with 3D CAD software (Siemens NX preferred).
  • Familiarity with 3D printing and design for printing.
  • Competent with basic measurement equipment such as Vernier Calipers and Micrometers.
  • Understanding of GD&T and coordinate dimensioning (ISO or ASME).
  • Understanding of material properties for different applications.
  • Familiarity with statistical analysis and design of experiments.
  • Task-oriented and self-directed, able to meet timelines and deliver results.
  • Strong communication skills and technical writing abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering is a plus.
