About the position

The Justice Policy Institute (JPI) is offering an internship program designed for self-motivated individuals who are passionate about criminal legal and juvenile legal reform. This internship provides a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in various aspects of JPI's work, including research, communications, and organizing. Interns will be involved in the development of one or more work products that align with JPI's strategic initiatives, allowing them to contribute meaningfully to the organization's mission of promoting fair and effective policies to reduce incarceration and improve the justice system. Internships will be structured around a hybrid work model, which includes both in-office meetings and remote work. While the internships will primarily be remote, there will be opportunities for in-person engagement for local students, fostering a collaborative environment. The program is designed to accommodate students' schedules, ensuring flexibility around their school and work commitments. Selected interns will engage in a variety of tasks, such as assisting with and authoring research materials, gathering and analyzing data, creating written, video, or audio content for JPI's digital media platforms, and scanning news sources to support JPI's daily digital media efforts. Additionally, interns will participate in state-based strategy meetings, contributing to the development of materials that support JPI's initiatives. This internship is unpaid, and applications are accepted on a semester basis, with a deadline of November 17, 2023.
