About the position
The Software Engineer Internship in AI Simulation at Tesla is designed for students pursuing degrees in Computer Science or related fields. This internship will provide hands-on experience in developing simulation tools that support Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) technology. Interns will work closely with the Autopilot Simulation team to contribute to the development of a modular and scalable simulation platform, enhancing the capabilities of Autopilot software through innovative tools and methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of a modular, scalable simulation platform.
- Work with all members of the Autopilot team to understand the simulation requirements and develop tools to meet those needs.
- Keep up to date with the latest research/technologies in the fields of autonomous driving and simulation.
- Contribute to team member development through leadership.
Requirements
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant field of study with a graduation date between 2025 - 2026.
- Must be able to relocate and work on site in Palo Alto, CA.
- Excellent software development skills in C++ and Python.
- Experience developing and delivering applications/simulation tools in an engineering application.
- Experience of hardware-in-the-loop simulation.
- Experience with raytracing, surface appearance models.
- Strong mathematical skills including linear algebra and numerical methods.
- Comfortable with Linux & Git.
- Experience in modeling one or more of: vehicle dynamics, sensors, control systems, stochastic systems.
