About the position

As a C++ Software Engineer intern within the Autonomy group at Tesla, you will apply your technical skills to enhance the performance of Self-Driving and Humanoid robots. This role involves writing, debugging, and maintaining robust software that connects various system components, contributing to the foundational code necessary for autonomy applications. You will also develop tools to benchmark and optimize system performance, ensuring stability and functionality across the software stack.

Responsibilities

  • Write, debug and maintain robust C/C++ software for the Autopilot and Humanoid robot software stack.
  • Work on code related to high-frame rate Camera & Vision stack, write GPU kernels, and design low memory footprint image compression libraries.
  • Implement high-performance inter-process communication data buffers and improve image & raw data logging/telemetry code.
  • Advocate for best coding practices and build tools to help engineers write better code.
  • Generalize software frameworks while avoiding excessive abstraction that may hinder performance.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a relevant field with a graduation date between 2025 - 2026.
  • Experience programming in C/C++ software.
  • Familiarity with Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and related software concepts is a plus.
  • Experience with performant software design, object-oriented C++, and compiler design is preferred.
  • Proficient in developing software on a Linux host, with experience for embedded Linux targets being a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hardcore lower-level C code is a plus.
  • Familiarity with cross-compilation for embedded systems.
