As a systems engineering intern, you will engage in projects that require the application of digital and model-based engineering, mission and system of systems engineering, AI-enabled systems engineering, and agile systems engineering. This internship is designed to help you develop your skills and knowledge while contributing to meaningful work that makes a difference in the world. You will work closely with experienced professionals who will guide you in using various systems engineering tools and methodologies. Responsibilities
- Work with a team to apply knowledge in systems engineering.
- Engage in digital and model-based engineering projects.
- Participate in mission and system of systems engineering activities.
- Contribute to AI-enabled systems engineering initiatives.
- Assist in agile systems engineering tasks.
- Support systems security engineering efforts.
- Conduct mechanical engineering tasks, including structural analysis and thermal dynamics.
- Explore aerospace engineering projects.
Requirements
- Must be a full-time student enrolled in an accredited degree program in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- Must continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.
- Knowledge of systems, mechanical, or aerospace engineering theory is required.
- Sustained excellence in academic performance is necessary.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience applying systems engineering, aerospace engineering, or mechanical engineering in an internship or research/lab position.
- Familiarity with Systems Engineering tools such as MagicDraw, Cameo Enterprise Architecture, Rhapsody, Stella, iThink, Anylogic, or Systemitool.
- Proven ability to work independently and learn new engineering technologies and techniques.
- Experience with Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and/or Unified Modeling Language (UML).
- Experience with Digital Engineering and Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Involvement in Science & Technology (S&T) capability assessments, trade studies, and analysis of alternatives.
- Experience with prototype design and CAD.
