As an intern in systems engineering, you will be part of a team that leverages innovative technologies to solve complex problems across these domains. As a systems engineering intern, you will engage in projects that require the application of digital and model-based engineering, mission and system of systems engineering, AI-enabled systems engineering, and agile systems engineering. You will also have the chance to explore areas such as systems security engineering, mechanical engineering, structural analysis, thermal dynamics, and aerospace engineering. This internship is designed to help you develop your skills and knowledge while contributing to meaningful work that makes a difference in the world. The internship is structured to provide you with a comprehensive learning experience, allowing you to apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings. You will work closely with experienced professionals who will guide you in using various systems engineering tools and methodologies. Responsibilities

  • Work with a team to apply knowledge in systems engineering.
  • Engage in digital and model-based engineering projects.
  • Participate in mission and system of systems engineering activities.
  • Contribute to AI-enabled systems engineering initiatives.
  • Assist in agile systems engineering tasks.
  • Support systems security engineering efforts.
  • Conduct mechanical engineering tasks, including structural analysis and thermal dynamics.
  • Explore aerospace engineering projects.

Requirements

  • Must be a full-time student enrolled in an accredited degree program in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • Must continue to be enrolled full-time the semester following the internship.
  • Knowledge of systems, mechanical, or aerospace engineering theory is required.
  • Sustained excellence in academic performance is necessary.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience applying systems engineering, aerospace engineering, or mechanical engineering in an internship or research/lab position.
  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering tools such as MagicDraw, Cameo Enterprise Architecture, Rhapsody, Stella, iThink, Anylogic, or Systemitool.
  • Proven ability to work independently and learn new engineering technologies and techniques.
  • Experience with Systems Modeling Language (SysML) and/or Unified Modeling Language (UML).
  • Experience with Digital Engineering and Model-based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
  • Involvement in Science & Technology (S&T) capability assessments, trade studies, and analysis of alternatives.
  • Experience with prototype design and CAD.
