About the position

The Operations Coordinator for Interpretation at The Children's Museum of Indianapolis provides essential operational support to gallery spaces, ensuring they are maintained to the highest standards. This role involves assisting the Interpretation Operations Manager with daily operations, training staff, and coordinating supplies for exhibits. The coordinator plays a key role in enhancing guest experiences and supporting the museum's commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Interpretation Operations Manager in daily operations of galleries, including exhibit maintenance and upkeep.
  • Train Interpretation staff on gallery operations and assist with the operations training manual.
  • Monitor gallery spaces daily and maintain communication with gallery staff.
  • Assist in animal care for ScienceWorks, including food supply and feeding schedules.
  • Plan lines and queues for guests during high visitation days.
  • Develop operations plans for new exhibits in production.
  • Research and gather supplies for new exhibits and maintain exhibit element revisions.
  • Communicate changes in gallery materials to staff and the public.
  • Oversee the cleaning plan for touchable materials and implement safety protocols.
  • Act as a Safety Warden during emergency scenarios.

Requirements

  • Three years of operations support experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills for coordinating meetings and planning exhibitions.
  • Guest service oriented with the ability to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to work with a diverse staff and flexible schedule.
