About the position

West Springfield Public Schools is seeking a skilled Spanish-speaking interpreter to join our team on an as-needed basis. This role provides crucial language support during Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings for special education, as well as in other meetings involving parents, students, and school staff.

Responsibilities

• Fluent in Spanish and English, with strong oral and written communication skills in both languages.
• Provides real-time, accurate interpretation during IEP and special education meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other relevant school meetings.
• Places calls to families, agencies, or other stakeholders to support school staff.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information responsibly.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build rapport and trust with diverse families.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification or coursework in interpretation/translation is a plus.
