About the position

The Interventional Radiologic Technologist at West Virginia University Hospitals is responsible for providing technical assistance in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures. This role requires the use of sterile and aseptic techniques, acquisition of imaging, and post-processing. The technologist will also provide emergency services on call, ensuring patient safety and effective communication with physicians during procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and interprets Hemodynamic monitoring.
  • Observes sterile technique while assembling supplies necessary for physicians and other lab personnel.
  • Maintains the confidentiality of patient and unit information.
  • Prepares entry site applicable to the procedure using sterile technique.
  • Continuously monitors patient's ECG and blood pressure, documenting and advising the physician of any activity.
  • Participates in the on-call rotation of the laboratory for emergent procedures.
  • Acts as the laboratory's code team by initiating resuscitative measures under physician supervision.
  • Correctly documents all procedures performed and utilizes the inventory control system.
  • Participates in educational and in-service opportunities.
  • Instructs radiography students in the clinical setting.

Requirements

  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) in Radiography.
  • Radiologist Technologist through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board of Examiners.
  • Obtain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire.

Nice-to-haves

  • Obtain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Certification (ACLS) within one year of hire.
