The Interventional Radiology Coder is responsible for coding and charge submission of Radiology procedures, ensuring accurate code assignment for optimal reimbursement in compliance with regulations. This role supports the mission of the Enterprise Records and Health Information department by implementing a patient-first service culture and maintaining timely coding turnaround.

  • Perform daily coding and charge submission for Radiology procedures.
  • Analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
  • Review electronic documentation within Radiology Information System (RIS) and PACS for billable services.
  • Query physicians to verify services rendered and ensure timely documentation.
  • Provide feedback to the Department of Radiology regarding coding and documentation issues.
  • Maintain a three-day turnaround time for Radiology coding based on the date of service.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of coding experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Certification as RHIT, RHIA, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, CIC, COC, CIRCC, RCC, or ROCC.
