About the position

Metro Health (now the University of Michigan Health-West) is seeking two part-time Interventional Radiology Technologists to join our dedicated team. This role is crucial for assisting with various vascular and non-vascular radiology procedures that require independent judgment and the administration of ionizing radiation to patients. The successful candidates will be expected to work 20 hours per week during the day and will share on-call responsibilities as assigned. This position demands a high level of professionalism and the ability to work collaboratively with the Interventional Radiology Team, including radiologists and nursing staff, to ensure the highest quality of patient care and service. As an Interventional Radiology Technologist, you will oversee the daily schedule, resolve conflicts, and work closely with the radiology charge nurse and physician assistant to accommodate same-day add-on patients whenever possible. You will be responsible for maintaining department inventory, scheduling preventive maintenance for equipment, and assisting in the training and orientation of new staff members. Your role will also involve applying the principles of radiologic medicine, ensuring proper radiation protection for patients and staff, and managing vascular sites for hemostasis. Additionally, you will utilize your computer skills to create patient logs, retrieve and review electronic medical records, and input patient charges. This position is vital in maintaining the operational efficiency of the Interventional Radiology department and ensuring patient comfort and safety during procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily schedule and resolve conflicts with the radiology charge nurse and physician assistant.
  • Interact with management, radiologists, and staff to ensure high-quality customer service.
  • Update protocols in collaboration with radiologists and communicate changes to team members.
  • Manage department inventory and special order items with the purchasing coordinator's assistance.
  • Schedule and monitor equipment for preventive maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new staff members.
  • Apply principles of radiologic medicine, including appropriate prep for exams and correct filming sequences.
  • Assemble sterile and non-sterile equipment setups for procedures while adhering to sterile techniques.
  • Manage vascular sites for hemostasis during procedures.
  • Assist with patient care activities and ensure patient comfort.
  • Utilize computer skills for patient logs, electronic medical records, and charge input.

Requirements

  • Satisfactory completion of a formal radiographic technology program in an AMA-approved school.
  • Successful completion of board registry by ARRT.
  • Preferably a member of ASRT or MSRT or both.
  • BLS certified.
  • Interventional Radiology Certification preferred.
