About the position
The Intra-Operative Tech-Trainee position at West Virginia University Hospitals involves completing on-the-job training in both didactic and clinical components of Intraoperative Monitoring (IOM). The role focuses on performing IOM procedures under supervision, with the goal of achieving competence to function independently as an IOM Technologist. Responsibilities
- Completes on-the-job training in IOM procedures under direct technical supervision.
- Prepares equipment and supplies for assigned cases according to monitoring modalities required.
- Sets up monitoring equipment in the operating room to ensure patient electrical safety.
- Applies electrodes and completes testing setup according to departmental policy.
- Monitors neurophysiological functioning throughout the operative procedure.
- Maintains communication with the surgical team throughout the procedure.
- Documents all relevant communication and physiological status during procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Neuroscience or related health science field.
- Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
