About the position

Ubiqus USA is seeking a Part-time Introductory Audio Recording Tech to join our team in Long Island, NY. This role is essential for ensuring that live proceedings are accurately monitored and recorded for our clients. The primary responsibility of the hearing reporters is to manage the recording process, which includes enabling recordings on and off as directed by the parties involved in the proceedings. Additionally, the Audio Recording Tech will maintain a detailed log of the order of speakers during these sessions, which is crucial for the transcription team to produce accurate records of the proceedings. The position requires a commitment to work at least three days a week, with the expectation of attending in-person hearings in the Long Island area. The successful candidate will be responsible for merging two phone conference lines via mobile phone, setting up a portable recording kit at client locations, and starting or pausing recordings as instructed. Monitoring the audio quality during the recording process is vital, and the tech must be prepared to troubleshoot any audio issues that may arise, whether they are operational or equipment-related. Furthermore, the role involves completing necessary paperwork to document the proceedings accurately. To excel in this position, candidates should possess a combination of relevant experience and training, ideally with 1 to 2 years in a related field. While audio experience is preferred, it is not mandatory. Strong language skills are necessary for reading and interpreting audio materials and technical procedures, as well as effective communication with managers and clients. Basic mathematical skills are also required for handling measurements and calculations related to the recordings. Familiarity with audio recording software and hardware is essential, although training will be provided for the specific equipment used in this role. A mobile phone and a computer or electronic device capable of completing electronic MS documents are also required.

Responsibilities

  • Merging two phone conference lines via mobile phone.
  • Setting up the portable recording kit on client premises.
  • Starting and stopping/pausing recording at client's direction.
  • Monitoring audio recordings while in process.
  • Troubleshooting any audio problems as they occur, whether operational or equipment-based.
  • Logging the order of speakers in the proceedings to provide a reference for transcription team.
  • Completion of paperwork.

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret audio materials and technical procedures.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions from managers and clients.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Basic knowledge of audio recording software and hardware.

Nice-to-haves

  • Audio experience preferred, but not necessary.
  • Familiarity with Zoom.
