About the position

The Assistant Commissary Manager (INV STORE SPEC III) is responsible for overseeing the operations of the commissary within the Moore Unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. This role involves managing retail sales, inventory control, and ensuring compliance with regulations while providing quality service to customers. The position requires a combination of retail experience and knowledge of automated point of sale systems, with a focus on maintaining efficient operations in a correctional environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the commissary, ensuring efficient service and compliance with regulations.
• Manage inventory levels and control stock to meet customer demand.
• Supervise staff and provide training on retail sales and inventory management practices.
• Utilize automated point of sale systems for transactions and inventory tracking.
• Ensure a safe and secure environment for both staff and customers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of full-time experience in commissary, retail sales, or inventory management, or one year of such experience combined with one year in correctional custody or law enforcement.
• Experience with automated point of sale systems is preferred.
