About the position

The Invasive Cardiac Technologist position in the EP Lab at UPMC Hamot is a full-time role that requires performing imaging procedures at a technical level without the need for constant supervision. The technologist will be responsible for a variety of technical procedures that necessitate independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative. This role is crucial in ensuring that all imaging processes are executed efficiently and accurately, contributing to optimal patient care and safety. In this position, the technologist will ensure that all images are properly coded and tracked through the PACS system, ensuring they are networked to the appropriate electronic records for archival and interpretation. The role also involves maintaining continuing education and competency requirements, demonstrating a strong ability to interact with patients and co-workers, and fostering a caring and respectful environment. The technologist will work collaboratively within the department and across other departments to expedite patient care effectively. The responsibilities include identifying patients using two patient identifiers, reviewing patient history, and assessing physician orders while applying departmental protocols for optimal data acquisition. The technologist will also maintain point of care testing standards, communicate instructions clearly to patients, and demonstrate proper positioning and radiographic techniques for diagnostic and interventional procedures. Additionally, the role requires competency in functioning as a first assist during procedures, administering contrast under physician direction, and ensuring patient safety through aseptic techniques and radiation safety practices.
