The Patient & Family Concierge at UPMC Presbyterian is a non-clinical support role focused on providing compassionate service and support to patients, families, and visitors during their hospital stay. The Concierge is responsible for ensuring a high-quality experience by assisting with various tasks such as patient transport, meal delivery, and maintaining cleanliness in patient areas. This role emphasizes patient satisfaction and quality of care, making it essential for creating a welcoming environment in the hospital.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and families warmly, providing direction and escort assistance to ensure they reach their destination.
• Inspect and ensure assigned areas are clean and in good repair, reporting maintenance issues to a supervisor.
• Deliver and set up patient meal trays, ensuring proper patient identification and following safety regulations.
• Escort patients to discharge lounge or main entrance as appropriate.
• Organize supply room and deliver supplies and equipment to patient units safely and accurately.
• Answer unit phones and transfer calls to appropriate staff, responding to call lights under Nursing Assistant/PCT direction.
• Interact with patients to assess their needs and ensure satisfaction, rounding hourly to meet responsibilities.
• Maintain resources like pamphlets and department contacts, adhering to hand hygiene and infection control procedures.

Requirements

• High School diploma or active High School/GED program enrollment or one year of previous job experience in lieu of HS Diploma/GED.
• Desire and compassion to provide exceptional patient and family experience.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Previous experience in healthcare or customer service is a plus, but not required for entry-level.
