About the position

The Inventory and Logistics Operations Manager at Silgan Dispensing is a crucial role responsible for overseeing the efficient operation of the warehouse and shipping teams. This position ensures that inventory is available for production and that finished goods are shipped on time. The manager will lead a team of 20 employees across multiple shifts and locations, coordinating logistics and inventory control to maintain operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the central warehouse and shipping teams, including training, scheduling, and coaching for 20 employees over 3 shifts in two locations.
  • Oversee all operations related to Freight, Returns, Receiving, Parcels, Transfers, Customer Pick-Up, Safety, Inventory Control, and Transportation at Thomaston and Torrington locations.
  • Coordinate with the planning and production team to stage and make available inventory needed for production.
  • Lead a team responsible for the shipping of finished goods.
  • Strategically plan and manage logistics, warehouse, and transportation operations.
  • Coordinate interdepartmental activities with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Engineering, Warehousing, Customer Service, and Procurement.
  • Manage and maintain an inventory cycle count and inventory accuracy program for all locations.
  • Track quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport costs, and efficiency related to inventory operations.
  • Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements for the Inventory Operations team.
  • Deliver KPIs for warehouse and shipping teams.
  • Bring a Process Improvement mindset to Inventory Operations and develop new strategies to streamline processes and reduce costs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe warehouse environment.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry into the SAP computer system.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of warehouse operations or shipping management experience required.
  • Knowledge of international shipping documentation.
  • Proficient in SAP.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
