The Inventory and Materials Manager at MAHLE Aftermarket, Inc. is responsible for directing and managing all aspects of materials management, warehousing, receiving, production scheduling, material planning and handling, material distribution to work cells, packaging, inventory control and accuracy, cycle counting, and customer/vendor interface. This role is critical in ensuring that the company meets its operational goals and customer demands efficiently and effectively. In this position, the manager will supervise material planning to ensure optimal inventory levels and maintain stock accuracy through the establishment of effective inventory controls. The manager will develop an annual cycle count program that meets business needs and compliance for all internal and external audits. Additionally, the manager will determine the annual department goals and objectives, effectively communicate these throughout the department, and implement actions with a sense of urgency to ensure the attainment of overall company goals and objectives. Collaboration with other departments is essential to develop an efficient workflow that meets customer demands. The manager will ensure the accuracy of shipments to external customers and manage continuous improvement within the department in conjunction with the continuous improvement activities of the facility. It is also crucial to ensure that materials required for manufacturing operations are available when needed, which includes maintaining reasonable stock levels of finished goods, work in process, and stock available. The Inventory and Materials Manager will understand and manage system processes for ERP and warehouse management systems, leading the department with a high standard of performance, personal integrity, and fairness. Consulting with internal customers to improve current materials/logistics processes and implementing appropriate corrective actions or improvements is a key responsibility. The manager will review and analyze reports and data to determine causes of production scheduling and material management problems and implement effective corrective actions to resolve these issues. Furthermore, the manager will develop and implement methods and procedures designed to eliminate customer delivery problems and improve delivery quality, while also conferring with customer representatives as needed to build successful working relationships. This role requires managing both salaried and hourly employees in the Inventory and Material department, including direct reports such as Inventory Control Supervisors, Group Leads, and Material Planners. The manager will carry out responsibilities in accordance with the company's policies and applicable laws, which include interviewing, hiring, training, and mentoring employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
