About the position

The Inventory Clerk II position at DHR Health is responsible for providing administrative support in inventory management within a healthcare setting. This role involves maintaining adequate inventory levels, processing supply orders, and ensuring efficient stock management to support patient care. The position requires effective communication with nursing and administrative staff, as well as proficiency in using inventory management systems and office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes the facility mission, vision, and values by effectively communicating them to others.
  • Assesses inventory and PAR levels daily and notifies the end user of stock status.
  • Prepares supply orders based on inventory assessment and anticipated needs.
  • Submits supply orders electronically utilizing the MMIS application.
  • Receives and reconciles supply orders, correctly labeling and stocking supplies.
  • Distributes supplies and fills stock orders, noting discrepancies.
  • Organizes and retrieves all unused supplies and used equipment for credit, returns, or redistribution.
  • Minimizes acquisition/delivery times of supplies by working efficiently.
  • Exchanges and accurately restocks emergency and other designated procedure carts.
  • Retrieves, decontaminates, and processes minor hospital medical equipment.
  • Demonstrates cost-effectiveness by maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
  • Monitors and processes all supplies that are expired or expiring.
  • Processes stock and non-stock orders for units.
  • Communicates backorders and substitutions to nursing staff.
  • Returns misplaced items to shelves and reduces excess inventory.
  • Uses email to communicate with Purchasing and Nursing to accommodate supply needs.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work areas, supply rooms, and the dock.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Texas driver's license required.
  • At least 2 years of experience in inventory management, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficient in the preparation, setup, and maintenance of inventory, equipment, and supplies used for patient care.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Computer knowledge is required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in material management and hospital experience preferred.
  • Sensitivity to cultural and bilingual issues.
