About the position

The Inventory Control and Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of supplies and inventory control at the facility, which includes the plant, farm, and hatchery. This role involves managing vendor relations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and coaching the Shipping & Receiving Clerk. The manager will also monitor pricing and quality of competing vendors, support new product development, and maintain accurate inventory records in the company's ERP system.

Responsibilities

  • Procures all supplies and materials related to the operation at the facility.
  • Oversees inventory management of plant and farm-related supplies and places purchase orders as needed.
  • Negotiates pricing with vendors.
  • Maintains the supply inventory system for the company.
  • Works with sales and production teams to forecast future sales needs.
  • Maintains bill of material information for product codes to ensure accurate packaging costs.
  • Leads the completion of physical inventories related to supplies and materials.
  • Coaches and mentors others in the company.
  • Focuses on continuous improvement within the plant operation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or a business-related field preferred.
  • Previous leadership, management, and supervisory experience is required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize in a changing environment.
  • Above average computer skills, including the ability to learn and manage company support software.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and all Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
