About the position

As an Inventory Control Area Manager at Agilent Technologies, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient management of inventory within our industry-leading distribution hub located in Memphis, Tennessee. This position is designed for individuals with practical logistics experience who are ready to leverage their skills in people management, project oversight, and resource allocation. Your primary responsibility will be to supervise a team of individual contributors engaged in various inventory activities, including cycle counts, delivery resolution, slotting, and warehouse optimization. You will be tasked with assigning and directing the implementation of essential tasks and processes within your department, ensuring that the right products are delivered to the right locations at the right prices. In this role, you will establish and maintain robust business and inventory controls and processes, fostering a productive team environment through effective training, development, and accountability measures. You will also be responsible for planning short-term labor needs, capacity, and project scope, ensuring effective communication with stakeholders. Your expertise in engineering and slotting the warehouse will be vital for optimizing material flow and infrastructure, while your disciplined approach will help reduce operational exceptions through root cause analysis and corrective actions. Additionally, you will maintain and develop operational training programs to support employee onboarding and development, ensuring that all operational SOPs are up to date. Monitoring individual and departmental performance against established goals will be a key aspect of your role, as you provide objective feedback to employees for recognition and identify areas for performance improvement. You will also participate in regulatory and internal quality inspections, taking responsibility for all issues related to warehouse operations and supporting the maintenance of the Quality Management System (QMS). This position requires clear communication of expectations to both individual contributors and the leadership team, and you will be expected to support multiple shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises individual contributors responsible for inventory activities in a distribution and logistics environment.
  • Assigns and directs implementation of tasks and processes in a department or work group.
  • Establishes and maintains business and inventory controls and processes.
  • Maintains a productive team through training, development, and accountability.
  • Plans short term labor, capacity, and project scope for effective communication to stakeholders.
  • Engineers and slots warehouse for most efficient optimization of material and infrastructure.
  • Reduces operational exceptions through disciplined approach or root cause and corrective action.
  • Maintains and develops operational training programs and supplemental programs for employee onboarding and development.
  • Maintains operational SOPs and revision needs.
  • Monitors individual and departmental performance against project and departmental goals, providing objective performance feedback to employees.
  • Participates in regulatory and internal quality inspections and is responsible for all issues related to warehouse operations.
  • Supports and maintains QMS.
  • Provides clear, concise expectations to achieve goals to individual contributors and leadership team.
  • Will support multiple shifts.

Requirements

  • May require Associate Degree or higher education/specialized training/certification, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1+ years experience formally or informally leading people, projects and/or programs for entry to this level.
  • Experience in inventory control.
  • Advanced Excel skills (including V-Lookup, complex statements).
  • Experience leading a site wide project for warehouse optimization.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills.
  • Supervisory skills and the ability to design and execute processes.
  • Demonstrated competency with SAP preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of warehouse operations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to use a forklift and related warehouse equipment preferred.
