The Inventory Control Associate at Smithfield Foods plays a crucial role in managing warehouse functions, ensuring the safe and efficient handling of materials. Responsibilities

  • Assist with receipt of materials, including unloading trucks and product check-in with proper markings.
  • Organize and put away new receipts and overstocks from previous production runs, identifying items properly.
  • Responsible for accurate documentation of material movement on BOLs, trailer load documents, packing lists, and transfer lists.
  • Enter and process new receipts and conduct daily inventory counts.
  • Notify other departments of package receipts and deliver to appropriate locations.
  • Prepare and load/unload Transfer Lists onto trailers for future production, verifying correct product pulled and documenting lot information.
  • Enter product transfers and adjustments.
  • Operate equipment for movement of product in the warehouse.
  • Maintain housekeeping during and at the end of the shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Previous powered industrial truck (PIT) experience preferred but not required.
  • Must obtain proper powered industrial truck (PIT) certification during initial training phase.
  • Attention to detail and good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Competent and trustworthy to comply with federal inspection programs and company safety and health policies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge and experience in the Meat Industry is preferred.
