About the position

The Inventory Control Manager I at DHL Supply Chain is a pivotal role that combines leadership, strategy, and operational excellence within a fast-paced logistics environment. This position is designed for motivated and organized individuals who are eager to make a significant impact on both customer satisfaction and employee engagement. The Inventory Control Manager will lead the Inventory Control team, ensuring that operational deliverables are met while fostering a culture of continuous improvement. This role requires a proactive approach to managing customer inventory accuracy and shrinkage, with a focus on timely reporting to site leadership. In this role, the Inventory Control Manager will maximize the performance of inventory processes and systems, ensuring the care, custody, and control of customer inventory. This includes maintaining accuracy between physical inventory and customer records, utilizing information technology effectively, and providing necessary documentation to meet compliance requirements. The manager will also oversee the planning and execution of cycle counts, ensuring adherence to contractual service level agreements. The position involves developing and implementing procedures and controls to prevent, detect, and correct errors in inventory transactions. Continuous improvement initiatives will be a key focus, driving enhancements in process efficiency, inventory accuracy, and compliance. The Inventory Control Manager will generate reports to track inventory metrics and trends, while also maintaining a thorough understanding of both internal and customer systems to support operational teams effectively. Additionally, the role includes managing the identification and repackaging of damaged products, as well as developing labor plans and equipment budgets for site leadership review.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior leadership, direction, and strategy for the Inventory Control team.
  • Develop and progress key customer relationships and operational partnerships.
  • Ensure customer inventory accuracy and shrink are monitored and reported timely to site leadership.
  • Maximize the performance of site inventory processes and systems.
  • Ensure care, custody, and control of customer inventory accuracy.
  • Provide required documentation in support of compliance requirements.
  • Manage the planning and execution of proactive and reactive cycle counts.
  • Develop, implement, and validate procedures, controls, and systems for inventory transactions.
  • Apply continuous improvement initiatives to drive process and inventory accuracy.
  • Design and generate appropriate reporting to track inventory accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of internal and customer systems for inventory support.
  • Ensure proper identification and repackaging of damaged products.
  • Develop labor plans and equipment needs budget for review with site leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent or 4+ years related work experience in inventory control, logistics, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years logistics industry experience.
  • 3+ years supervisory or management experience in an inventory control supervisory role.
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems like JDA, Red Prairie, Manhattan, DMPLUS, SAP, etc.
  • Deep and broad understanding of Inventory Control, its financial and operational impacts, preferably in an e-commerce Fulfillment environment.
