About the position

The Inventory Control Manager I position at DHL Supply Chain is designed for motivated and organized individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment. This role is pivotal in providing senior leadership, direction, and strategy for the Inventory Control team, ensuring the execution of operational deliverables. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and nurturing key customer relationships and operational partnerships that foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence in inventory control management. In this role, the Inventory Control Manager will ensure that customer inventory accuracy and shrink are monitored and reported in a timely manner to site leadership. They will maximize the performance of site inventory processes and systems, ensuring the care, custody, and control of customer inventory, as well as accuracy in relation to both floor and customer book. The manager will also be tasked with the proper utilization of information technology and providing necessary documentation to support compliance requirements. The position involves managing the planning and execution of proactive and reactive cycle counts in compliance with contractual service level agreements. The Inventory Control Manager will develop, implement, and validate procedures, controls, and systems that prevent, detect, and correct errors in inventory transactions and balances. Continuous improvement initiatives will be applied to drive process enhancements, inventory accuracy, compliance, and on-time completion within budget, with documented results. Additionally, the manager will design and generate appropriate reporting to track inventory accuracy, shrink compliance, and variance root cause trends. A thorough knowledge of internal and customer systems is essential to provide extensive support to the operational team and the customer for inventory and production-related issues. The role also includes ensuring the proper identification and repackaging of damaged products, whether for disposal or return to inventory as damaged merchandise. Finally, the Inventory Control Manager will develop labor plans and equipment needs budgets for review with site leadership.

Responsibilities

• Maximize the performance of site inventory processes and systems.
• Ensure care, custody, and control of customer inventory accuracy.
• Utilize information technology properly for inventory management.
• Provide required documentation in support of compliance requirements.
• Manage the planning and execution of proactive and reactive cycle counts.
• Develop, implement, and validate procedures, controls, and systems for inventory management.
• Apply continuous improvement initiatives to drive process and inventory accuracy.
• Design and generate reporting to track inventory accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain knowledge of internal and customer systems for operational support.
• Ensure proper identification and repackaging of damaged products.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent or 4+ years related work experience in inventory control, logistics, or related discipline.
• 3+ years logistics industry experience.
• 3+ years supervisory or management experience in an inventory control supervisory role.
• Experience with Warehouse Management Systems like JDA, Red Prairie, Manhattan, DMPLUS, SAP, etc.
• Deep and broad understanding of Inventory Control, its financial and operational impacts, preferably in an e-commerce Fulfillment environment.
