The position is responsible for managing daily communication and activities related to inventory control within Retail operations. This includes ensuring that the quality, quantity, and cost of goods meet customer expectations while achieving operational business goals. The role requires integrating customer service with the expectations of various distribution centers through business process alignment and training. Additionally, the position involves handling questions or complaints and providing solutions, ensuring that inventory is in the right place at the right time and in the right quantities to service customers effectively. The manager will oversee processes and procedures related to customer service, buying, and national account interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Build and develop broad-based relationships with distribution warehouse personnel to achieve best business results aligned with SOPs and business initiatives.
  • Develop, monitor, review, track, and report monthly to senior management on established KPIs for inventory control purposes.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in DC operation processes and customer service processes for the benefit of internal customer service teams and external customers.
  • Oversee and improve the inventory purchasing process for effective cost control decisions while working with buyers.
  • Work with the national account team to manage forecasts, LTO, and special purchases based on customer parameters and needs.
  • Collaborate with national account managers and/or customers on inventory allocations based on customer-specific metrics.
  • Work with buyers and DCs on product quality expectations, including shelf issues and decisions.
  • Coordinate with the logistics team to ensure service metrics are met and investigate issues as they arise.
  • Ensure optimal inventory levels and costs to properly service customers.
  • Manage and reconcile inventory levels at all warehouse locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BS, BA) required in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics or related area.
  • 2 or more years of supervisory experience required.
  • 5 or more years of related experience in purchasing, customer service, accounting, warehousing and/or transportation.
  • Experience in the food service industry preferred.
  • Ability to foster a supportive and collaborative environment internally and with warehouses.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to achieve results through persistent negotiations, appropriate allocation of resources, strong communication skills and good judgment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a range of contacts within and outside the company in a highly professional manner; must be tactful and articulate.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software products.
