About the position

The Inventory Control Manager at Foot Locker is responsible for leading and directing the inventory control teams across North America Supply Chain. This role involves developing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure operational excellence and compliance with financial standards. The manager will optimize inventory levels, minimize costs, and maximize turnover while collaborating with various teams to drive improvements in inventory management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and own all inventory control policies, procedures, and expectations across the entire DC network.
  • Standardize inventory control strategies to optimize inventory levels and minimize carrying costs.
  • Set North American KPIs for inventory control and support site QA/IC operations managers.
  • Analyze inventory data and trends for process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Lead inventory audits at each facility to ensure adherence to established procedures.
  • Communicate with the corporate audit team to validate compliance with financial controls.
  • Lead annual physical inventories in partnership with Site Directors.
  • Partner with finance for inventory shortage reporting and updates to the VP of Supply Chain Operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve inventory adjustments and service levels.
  • Benchmark with other retailers to innovate strategies and technologies for continuous improvement.
  • Direct oversight of inventory management programs essential to supply chain operations.
  • Drive proactive change management across the team.
  • Model behaviors aligned with a customer-centric, high-performing culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years combined experience in inventory control and quality assurance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Greenbelt in 6-sigma required; preferred Blackbelt in 6-sigma.
  • Strong ability to perform statistical analysis to improve process control.
  • Proven track record of implementing inventory control initiatives that resulted in improved accuracy, efficiency, and cost savings.
  • Experience in developing quality standards and standardizing SOPs.
  • Demonstrated ability to present to Executive leadership and board of directors.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work products.
  • Ability to operate with sound reasoning and judgment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with data analysis for root cause identification and long-term solution implementation.
  • Leadership experience with continuous improvement methodologies.
