The Inventory Control Manager position is a senior-level role responsible for the overall management and safeguarding of DMFI's Finished Goods Inventory, Brite Inventory, and Material's and Fiber Inventory for Plant and Distribution Center (DC) Operations in Modesto, CA. This role is crucial in managing supply chain activities at both strategic and tactical levels to ensure that all inventory and operational activities are accurate, timely, and aligned with company standards. The Inventory Control Manager will oversee the development and adherence to policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure proper inventory management and accounting. This includes leading investigations into inventory discrepancies, driving root cause analysis with operational partners, and implementing corrective actions. The manager will also be responsible for developing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to governance, maintenance, and audits. Additionally, the role involves managing, coaching, and developing the inventory control team, directing cycle count programs, and ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) standards. Collaboration is key in this position, as the Inventory Control Manager will work closely with the Supply Chain Leadership team to identify cross-functional efficiency gains and continuous improvement opportunities. The role also requires collaboration with Corporate Inventory Control, Regional Inventory Control, Plants, and third-party logistics (3PLs) to design, implement, and maintain an Inventory Scorecard. The manager will ensure timely posting and auditing of all inventory, receipt, and shipment transactions, monitor customer returns, and lead initiatives and projects within DC and Plant Operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and safeguard DMFI Finished Goods Inventory, Brite Inventory, and Material's and Fiber Inventory for Plant and DC Operations in Modesto.
  • Oversee supply chain activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness of inventory and operational activities.
  • Develop and adhere to policies, guidelines, and procedures for inventory management.
  • Lead investigations of inventory discrepancies and drive root cause analysis with operational partners.
  • Direct the implementation of corrective actions in Plant and DC operations.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for governance, maintenance, and audits.
  • Manage, coach, and develop the inventory control team at Modesto.
  • Direct cycle count programs and physical inventory processes, guiding improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) standards in inventory reconciliation between WMS and SAP.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain Leadership to identify efficiency gains and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Work with Corporate Inventory Control, Regional Inventory Control, Plants, and 3PLs to maintain Inventory Scorecard.
  • Ensure timely posting and auditing of inventory, receipt, and shipment transactions.
  • Monitor customer returns to proactively identify issues and reduce costs and errors.
  • Audit credit and debit memos associated with customer returns for accuracy.
  • Lead initiatives and projects within DC and Plant Operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Accounting, Business, or related area (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • 5-7 years of Supply Chain experience with at least 4 years of Inventory Control experience.
  • Strong leadership skills including team facilitation, consensus building, project leadership, and execution.
  • Ability to analyze data with acute attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound judgment under stressful situations.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive response to new challenges.
  • Knowledge of SAP and tier-1 Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Proven ability to lead and implement change and improvements in inventory processes.
