About the position

As the leader of the inventory control team at US Foods, you will be responsible for ensuring the financial integrity of the market's inventory. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional partners to identify opportunities for improvement through root cause analysis. You will implement and drive company best practices and routines to enhance operational efficiency. Your leadership will be crucial in managing the inventory control staff, ensuring that all activities are completed in a timely manner while adapting to changing labor availability and priorities. This includes prioritizing and delegating ad hoc requests in cooperation with warehouse operations personnel. In addition to labor planning and scheduling, you will focus on associate coaching and development, attracting and leading a highly skilled and motivated team. Continuous improvement will be a key focus, as you work with cross-functional partners to identify and resolve root causes of inventory losses, implementing preventive measures to enhance inventory management processes. You will also be responsible for monitoring performance metrics in collaboration with the Area Director of Finance, analyzing significant cycle count adjustments, and communicating findings with the team. Your role will involve managing vendor packaging issues, overseeing the reclamation process, and coordinating with buyers for billback and on-site repackaging of products. You will also manage non-saleable inventory, ensuring timely resolution of issues related to suspense inventory, and review customer credit requests to determine root causes for process improvement. Compliance with SOx regulations will be essential, as you will perform controls such as inventory report reviews and quarterly cycle count completions.

Responsibilities

  • Labor planning and scheduling of inventory control staff to ensure timely completion of activities.

  • Reviewing and approving customer credit requests and determining root causes for process improvement.
  • Ensuring SOx compliance through effective controls and reporting.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree with management or supply chain background preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in inventory control or warehousing required.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control procedures.
  • Excellent analytical skills and intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Intermediate understanding of Microsoft Office Suite programs (Outlook, SharePoint, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Experience in leading continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, etc.) preferred.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience and strong time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to inspire followership.
  • Experience with timekeeping, warehousing, and distribution back office systems.
  • Experience in foodservice distribution preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in leading continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Agile, etc.) preferred.
  • Forklift and HAACP training will be provided, certification within 1st 90 days required.
