About the position

The Inventory Control Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating inventory activities across one or multiple facilities. This role focuses on optimizing inventory levels, implementing best practices for inventory management, and ensuring accurate reporting and analysis of inventory data. The manager will work closely with local managers and the Corporate Inventory Management team to streamline processes and resolve inventory-related issues.

Responsibilities

• Determines and implements best practices for cycle counts and physical inventories.
• Implements A-B-C method of inventory turn management in conjunction with purchasing procedures.
• Identifies and resolves inventory control problems with local managers.
• Collaborates with Corporate Inventory Management to develop new inventory items and categories.
• Analyzes and reports variances between general ledger and perpetual inventory values.
• Manages accruals for at-risk inventory dollars, including obsolete or damaged items.
• Schedules and reports results for all physical inventories.
• Resolves A/P discrepancies between locations and vendors.
• Keeps locations informed of item or price changes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred, or four years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with various levels of management and personnel.
• Strong analytical skills to synthesize complex information and design workflows.
• Cost-conscious mindset with experience in developing cost-saving measures.
• Effective planning and organizing skills to prioritize work activities and set goals.
• Innovative thinking to generate suggestions for improving work processes.
• Strong language skills for reading, writing, and speaking effectively.
• Mathematical skills for calculating figures and amounts accurately.
• Proficient in inventory software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.

Nice-to-haves

• Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
