About the position

The Inventory Control Technician is responsible for managing and maintaining inventory reports, processing orders, and ensuring accurate documentation of inventory activities. This role involves monitoring supply levels, reconciling discrepancies, and may include supervising clerical staff. The technician will also handle cash transactions and assist with various administrative tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors, maintains and updates inventory reports; reconciles inventory discrepancies
  • Processes requisitions, purchase orders and invoices for payment
  • Records purchases, maintains database, performs physical count of inventory at multiple locations
  • Maintains statistics and develops complex reports
  • Assists with special projects using independent decision-making and judgment
  • Responds to general and complex questions and complaints regarding department or work
  • May supervise, lead or train administrative or clerical support personnel
  • May perform general administrative tasks such as copying, answering telephones; open and distribute mail
  • Performs related duties as required

Requirements

  • Graduation from High School or a General Education development (GED) certificate
  • Two (2) years of inventory control experience, or related field
  • Good knowledge of English spelling, grammar and punctuation
  • Good knowledge of office procedures
  • Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations
  • Skill to type 30 words per minute with no more than 7 errors
  • Proficient in operating a personal computer, typewriter and basic office equipment
  • Ability to reconcile inventory counts, monitor and update complex data reports
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees, and the general public
  • Must be bilingual in Spanish
  • Must have and maintain a valid Texas Class C driver's license
  • Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
  • Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
