The Inventory Controller position at Restaurant Depot is a full-time role that plays a crucial part in ensuring the efficient operations of various departments including Inventory, Front End, Cash Room, and Receiving. This position requires close collaboration with the Assistant Branch Managers and the Branch Manager to maintain a positive company image through courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service. The Inventory Controller is responsible for upholding company standards and may hold warehouse keys, which adds a level of responsibility to the role. The position also involves performing manual labor as needed, which is an essential aspect of maintaining the physical inventory at the branch. In this role, the Inventory Controller will maintain the accuracy of the physical inventory, utilizing tools such as a scan gun to move merchandise and gather necessary information. The position requires making pricing decisions to ensure that gross margins are maintained at levels required by corporate standards. Effective communication with buyers regarding margin issues is vital, as is the ability to review sales price differential reports to ensure accurate Front End pricing. Regular cycle counts are a key responsibility, and the Inventory Controller will train staff on inventory processes and oversee the preparation and execution of semi-annual inventories. Coordination with various departments such as Receiving, Perishables, Dry Goods Floor, and Front End is essential to ensure that stock levels are accurate and that any discrepancies in computer inventory are addressed. The Inventory Controller will supervise Stock-takers, manage the writing of adjustment vouchers for vendor damages, and ensure compliance with liquor and tobacco tax filings. Reporting shrink and investigating its causes, controlling markdowns and voids, and analyzing reasons for negative inventory and margins are also critical functions of this role. The Inventory Controller will regularly review store statistical reports to identify any abnormal or erroneous data, ensuring that the branch operates smoothly and efficiently.
