About the position

The Inventory Demand Planner is responsible for developing inventory forecasts to support medical and surgical products across multiple regions. This role involves managing inventory levels, collaborating with sourcing and procurement, and ensuring efficient scheduling of products from manufacturers. The position requires a strong understanding of operational processes and the ability to work autonomously to maintain sufficient inventory levels to meet unplanned demand, ensuring that patient care is not impacted.

Responsibilities

  • Develop inventory forecasts for medical/surgical products across multiple regions.
  • Manage inventory levels and drive efficiency in purchases through collaboration with Sourcing and Procurement.
  • Schedule inventory products from manufacturers and ensure timely delivery.
  • Review and adjust forecasted demand based on patient census and materials management input.
  • Approve system-generated replenishment orders and manage purchase orders as needed.
  • Provide feedback on supplier performance and respond to supplier surveys.
  • Communicate potential supply or quality issues that may impact operations and patient care.
  • Process material returns and coordinate refunds with internal departments and suppliers.
  • Maintain relevant data in TECSYS inventory management and procurement applications.
  • Resolve accounts payable, supply quality issues, and discrepancies in receiving and shipping.
  • Exceed annual Bulk Buy purchase targets and identify bulk buy opportunities based on historical data.
  • Plan and forecast medical surgical inventory levels based on trends and current inventory.
  • Review and set optimal inventory levels using demand planning tools and Economic Order Quantity models.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or other analytical discipline, OR three to five years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with demand/sales forecasting using various forecasting software.
  • Knowledge of inventory control methods and Economic Order Quantity models.

Nice-to-haves

  • APICS certification is highly preferred.
