About the position

The Inventory Management Specialist (Demand Planner) position at the Department of the Army involves executing demand planning for a complex portfolio of weapons systems and components. The role requires analyzing and synthesizing data to resolve demand planning issues, developing options for conflicting program requirements, and supporting supply chain management integration. The specialist will also provide demand planning and forecasting recommendations to management and other supply specialists, ensuring effective inventory management and material support.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the demand planning program for a complex portfolio of weapons systems and component parts.
  • Evaluate and synthesize analysis to resolve demand planning issues.
  • Develop options to address conflicting program requirements and optimize inventory management.
  • Support supply chain management integration across various elements to enhance system suitability and reliability.
  • Provide demand planning and forecasting recommendations to management and supply specialists.
  • Validate planning assumptions and demand history for National Item Identification Number (NIIN) level and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) requirements.
  • Monitor the status and effectiveness of material support based on forecasting techniques.
  • Use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems to review demand history and generate forecasts.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to maintain accurate demand material master coding in the ERP system.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11 level, including performing demand planning, analyzing forecast requirements, and formulating forecasting strategies.
  • Experience in validating and verifying requirements for inventory management.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex demand planning issues.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Knowledge of supply chain management principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
