About the position

The Inventory Management Specialist position at the Department of Veterans Affairs serves as a Property Manager within the Merial Management Division of the Supply Chain Management Service. This role is responsible for the inventory and lifecycle management of all expendable equipment in the assigned areas, ensuring efficient supply chain operations within the VA Health Care System.

Responsibilities

• Manage and control an assigned class of expendable material.
• Serve as the point of contact for coordination of material support and resolution of logistic problems.
• Conduct forecasting and quantitative analysis for inventory needs.
• Implement federal and agency programs for the return and reutilization of medical supplies.
• Coordinate disposal of surplus or excess supplies and make emergent procurement decisions.
• Participate in root cause analysis processes for inventory issues.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required to apply for this job.
• Specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service, including managing expendable items and durable medical equipment, forecasting inventory needs, and utilizing automated inventory management systems.
• Education: 1 full year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement may substitute for specialized experience at the GS-07 level.
• For GS-09, specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service is required.
