About the position

The Inventory Management Specialist (Order Fulfillment) position within the Army Material Command (AMC) is a critical role responsible for overseeing order fulfillment activities. This position is located in Warren, MI, and is classified as a full-time, temporary appointment for one year, with the possibility of extension. The specialist will engage with supported units to enhance order fulfillment processes, ensuring that all orders are processed in accordance with Army regulations and AMC guidance. The role requires a proactive approach to building rapport with various stakeholders, including supply chain teams and weapon system teams, to resolve issues and ensure timely communication regarding order statuses. In this role, the specialist will validate orders through data verification, utilizing information related to maintenance records and operational missions. They will troubleshoot discrepancies and report findings to both internal and cross-functional teams. The position also involves managing the delivery of repairable products and services through Integrated Product Support (IPS) Elements, which is essential for maintaining operational readiness. Regular evaluations of existing operations will be conducted to identify opportunities for improvement in order fulfillment accuracy and productivity, as well as the use of automation. The specialist will support the development and implementation of demand and supply planning strategies that optimize supply chain management principles, enhancing system readiness and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, they will address system issues, particularly within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, to improve requisition processing effectiveness. Participation in operational, tactical, and strategic initiatives within the order fulfillment functional area is expected, with a focus on identifying and implementing best practices throughout the order fulfillment cycle. A collaborative approach with the acquisition community is essential to integrate demand and supply planning requirements from the initiation of product development.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and develop opportunities to improve order fulfillment processes.
  • Engage with supported units to build rapport on order fulfillment and supply chain matters, ensuring timely communication.
  • Contact and coordinate with appropriate functional areas of the supply chain and weapon system teams for problem resolution.
  • Ensure orders are processed according to applicable Army regulations and AMC guidance to meet supported unit expectations.
  • Validate orders through data verification using information related to supported end item maintenance records and operational mission information.
  • Troubleshoot order discrepancies and report findings to internal and cross-functional teams.
  • Manage and deliver repairable products and services through Integrated Product Support (IPS) Elements to sustain systems for operational readiness.
  • Perform regular evaluations of existing operations to identify opportunities for improvements in order fulfillment accuracy and productivity.
  • Support the development and implementation of outcome-based demand and supply planning strategies to optimize supply chain management principles.
  • Address and support resolving system issues, especially in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, to enhance requisition processing effectiveness.
  • Participate in operational, tactical, and strategic initiatives within the order fulfillment functional area, identifying and implementing best practices throughout the order fulfillment cycle.
  • Utilize a partnering approach with the acquisition community to integrate demand and supply planning requirements from the initiation of product development.

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience analyzing supply data pertaining to secondary items.
  • Experience developing material release strategies based on supply data analysis.
  • Experience tracking delivery of customer requisitions and communicating status of orders and overall supply health to relevant stakeholders.
