About the position

The Inventory Control Specialist at Kunes Country Auto Group is responsible for maintaining the organization's inventory, ensuring that necessary items are ordered and supplied while keeping accurate records of all procurements. This role is crucial in managing stock levels and ensuring that the inventory system operates smoothly. The Inventory Control Specialist will work closely with the purchasing and inventory control manager to facilitate upgrades to related databases and software, ensuring that the inventory management processes are efficient and effective. In this position, the Inventory Control Specialist will maintain a consistent stock of inventory by ordering new stock up to a pre-authorized limit as inventory levels decrease. They will establish and maintain backup sources for high-demand items and assess inventory reports and order patterns to identify items that require automatic, recurring delivery. The role also involves providing detailed inventory reports to the purchasing and inventory control manager, which will aid in decision-making and inventory management strategies. The Inventory Control Specialist will develop and maintain good working relationships with vendors, ensuring that communication is clear and effective. They will also be responsible for maintaining accurate daily records of goods received and shipments made, conducting frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory, and assisting with periodic physical inventory audits at least once a year. The role may require operating a forklift truck when necessary, and the Inventory Control Specialist will perform other related duties as requested by management.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains consistent stock of inventory, ordering new stock up to pre-authorized limit as inventory dwindles.
  • Establishes and maintains backup source for high-demand items.
  • Assesses inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery.
  • Provides inventory reports to purchasing and inventory control manager.
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with vendors.
  • Maintains accurate daily records of goods received and shipments made.
  • Manages and maintains inventory system; facilitates upgrades to related database and/or software under the direction of the purchasing or inventory control manager.
  • Conducts frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory.
  • Assists with periodic (at least annual) physical inventory audits.
  • Operates forklift truck when necessary.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience with computerized inventory systems required.
  • Forklift operator certification preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills with warehouse workers, purchasing department, and outside vendors.
  • Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
  • Proficient keyboarding skills.
  • Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to develop professional relationships with outside vendors.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
