About the position

The Inventory Manager position at Ryder in Etna, OH, is a critical role within our Supply Chain Solutions division. This position is responsible for overseeing the tracking of incoming and finished goods materials, packaging supplies, and other inventory-related tasks essential for the warehousing and distribution of customer products. The Inventory Manager will provide accounting support regarding inventory issues and will be directly involved in daily operations and future projects to ensure that activities align with facility goals and objectives. Reporting to this position are cycle counters and a clerk, making it essential for the Inventory Manager to lead and develop their team effectively. In this role, the Inventory Manager will track day-to-day facility inventory costs and assist in supporting the facility's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to consistently meet or exceed established goals. This includes adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), safety, quality, productivity, sanitation, and maintenance standards. The Inventory Manager will maintain daily reports to measure KPIs on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, develop and maintain inventory control systems, and manage the facility's cycle count program and inventory recoup/repack/return/recycle program. Additionally, the Inventory Manager will provide floor support to Operations Supervisors and hourly associates regarding inventory issues, facilitate the hold process for the local site, and ensure effective communication through daily communications and shift meetings. This role also involves promoting positive customer relationships and performing other duties as assigned, making it a dynamic and engaging position within the company.

Responsibilities

  • Track day-to-day facility inventory costs and assist in supporting the facility KPI's to consistently meet/exceed established goals.
  • Maintain daily reports that are established to measure daily, weekly and monthly KPI's.
  • Develop and maintain inventory control systems that meet ongoing and future facility needs.
  • Develop and manage the facility cycle count program and the inventory recoup/repack/return/recycle program.
  • Provide floor support to Operations Supervisors and hourly associates regarding inventory issues.
  • Facilitate and execute the hold process for local site.
  • Conduct periodic performance evaluations of direct reports and assist in their development.
  • Ensure daily communications and shift meetings provide necessary information for employees.
  • Promote positive customer relationships.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • H.S. diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in logistics, supply chain, or related field.
  • Three (3) years or more manufacturing/production/distribution inventory experience required.
  • Two (2) years or more supervisory experience required.
  • Three (3) years or more PC Inventory and accounting skills required.
  • Three (3) years or more problem solving skills experience, use of formal Root Cause Countermeasure Systems preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA required at an intermediate level.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) preferred at an intermediate level.
  • DOT and Hazmat knowledge may be required based on the account at an intermediate level.
  • APICS certification preferred at an intermediate level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to Lean principles, systems and tools (beginner preferred).
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) (intermediate preferred).
  • DOT and Hazmat knowledge may be required based on the account (intermediate preferred).
  • APICS certified (intermediate preferred).
