About the position

The Inventory Manager position at Ryder in Etna, OH, is a critical role within our Supply Chain Solutions division, responsible for overseeing the tracking of incoming and finished goods materials, packaging supplies, and other inventory-related tasks essential for the warehousing and distribution of customer products. This position is pivotal in ensuring that the facility meets its operational goals and objectives, providing accounting support for inventory issues and maintaining a high standard of performance in line with the company's Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The Inventory Manager will work closely with various teams to ensure that inventory management processes are efficient and effective, contributing to the overall success of the facility. In this role, the Inventory Manager will be directly involved in daily operations, including the development and maintenance of inventory control systems that align with both current and future facility needs. The position requires a proactive approach to managing the facility's cycle count program and overseeing the inventory recoup/repack/return/recycle program. The Inventory Manager will also provide essential support to Operations Supervisors and hourly associates regarding inventory issues, ensuring that all team members are well-informed and equipped to perform their tasks effectively. The Inventory Manager will play a key role in fostering a positive work environment, promoting strong customer relationships, and conducting performance evaluations for direct reports. This position requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to facilitate effective interactions with customers, employees, and management. The Inventory Manager will also be responsible for ensuring that daily communications and shift meetings provide the necessary information for employees to perform their jobs consistently well, while also making them feel valued as part of the team.

Responsibilities

  • Track day-to-day facility inventory costs and assist in supporting the facility KPIs to consistently meet/exceed established goals.
  • Maintain daily reports to measure daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs.
  • Develop and maintain inventory control systems that meet ongoing and future facility needs.
  • Develop and manage the facility cycle count program and the inventory recoup/repack/return/recycle program.
  • Provide floor support to Operations Supervisors and hourly associates regarding inventory issues.
  • Facilitate and execute the hold process for the local site.
  • Assist in the development of employees and conduct periodic performance evaluations of direct reports.
  • Ensure daily communications and shift meetings provide necessary information for employees.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in logistics, supply chain, or related field.
  • Three (3) years or more of manufacturing/production/distribution inventory experience required.
  • Two (2) years or more of supervisory experience required.
  • Three (3) years or more of PC Inventory and accounting skills required.
  • Three (3) years or more of problem-solving skills experience, with formal Root Cause Countermeasure Systems preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA required.
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) preferred.
  • DOT and Hazmat knowledge may be required based on the account preferred.
  • APICS certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to Lean principles, systems, and tools (beginner preferred).
  • Intermediate knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) preferred.
