About the position

The Inventory Manager at Valley Tool & Mfg., Inc. is responsible for overseeing and managing the company's aerospace materials inventory operations. This role involves maintaining accurate inventory levels, tracking product movement, and coordinating with various departments to streamline processes. The Inventory Manager plays a critical role in minimizing waste and ensuring product availability for smooth business operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, movements, and stock locations.
  • Perform regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of products.
  • Monitor expiration dates on specific materials.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with suppliers and vendors for timely deliveries and shipments.
  • Organize kitting for subassemblies and collaborate with procurement and sales teams for seasonal fluctuations or new product launches.
  • Evaluate and implement inventory management best practices and technology solutions.
  • Develop and maintain efficient inventory management processes and workflows to reduce waste and improve cost-effectiveness.
  • Prepare and present regular inventory reports to senior management, highlighting trends, stock levels, and key performance metrics.
  • Use data analytics to make informed decisions about purchasing, stock turnover, and replenishment schedules.
  • Supervise inventory staff, ensuring they are trained on best practices for inventory handling and management.
  • Foster a team-oriented environment, ensuring efficient communication and cooperation with warehouse, sales, and procurement teams.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards in inventory handling and storage.
  • Implement safety protocols for the handling of hazardous materials or sensitive inventory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience (3-5 years) in inventory management, warehouse operations, or supply chain management.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory management software (Global Shop) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and manage time efficiently.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Leadership abilities and experience in managing teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in Inventory Management (e.g., APICS CPIM, CILT) is a plus.
  • Experience with ERP systems or other automated inventory management tools.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment (aerospace inventory experience is a major plus).
